Class ConsoleLoggingSettings
Controls which metadata components appear on each line written to the Unity console
via UnityConsoleLog. All boolean flags are independent and can be combined freely.
Inherited Members
Namespace: Scylla.Core.Config
Assembly: ScyllaCore.dll
Syntax
[Serializable]
public sealed class ConsoleLoggingSettings
Remarks
These settings affect only the Unity Editor console (and development-build in-game console overlay). They have no effect on FileLog output, which uses FileLogFormattingSettings instead.
Disabling ShowTimestamp and ShowCodeLocation produces shorter,
less noisy console lines that are easier to read during rapid iteration. Enabling
them is useful when correlating Unity console entries with file log timestamps or
when diagnosing the exact call site of a log message.
Fields
ShowCategory
When true, includes the LogCategory tag (e.g.,
[Core], [Input]) in each console message. This helps filter and
identify which framework subsystem emitted the message.
Defaults to true.
Declaration
[Tooltip("When enabled, the log category (e.g., [Core], [Input], [Camera]) is included in each console log message. This helps identify which module or subsystem produced the message.")]
public bool ShowCategory
Field Value
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| bool |
ShowCodeLocation
When true, appends the source file name and line number to each console
message (e.g., [MyClass.cs:42]). Useful for tracing a log call back to its
exact origin without using the Unity stack-trace popup.
Defaults to false to avoid cluttering the console during normal development.
Declaration
[Tooltip("When enabled, the source file name and line number are appended to each console log message. This makes it easy to click through to the exact code location that produced the message in your IDE.")]
public bool ShowCodeLocation
Field Value
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| bool |
ShowLabel
When true, includes the log level label (e.g., [INFO],
[WARNING], [ERROR]) in each console message. Disabling this reduces
noise when the Unity console icon already conveys severity.
Defaults to true.
Declaration
[Tooltip("When enabled, the severity level label (e.g., [INFO], [WARNING], [ERROR]) is included in each console log message. This provides a quick visual indicator of message importance.")]
public bool ShowLabel
Field Value
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| bool |
ShowPrefix
When true, includes the Scylla log prefix (e.g., [Scylla]) in each
console message. The prefix allows quick visual identification of framework log
entries among other Unity console output. Defaults to true.
Declaration
[Tooltip("When enabled, the framework prefix tag (e.g., [Scylla]) is included at the start of each console log message. This helps distinguish framework messages from other Unity console output.")]
public bool ShowPrefix
Field Value
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| bool |
ShowTimestamp
When true, prepends an ISO-8601 timestamp to each console log message so
that messages can be correlated with file log entries or external event timelines.
Defaults to false to keep console output concise during development.
Declaration
[Tooltip("When enabled, each console log message is prefixed with a timestamp showing when the message was generated. Useful for correlating log output with specific moments during gameplay or debugging timing-sensitive issues.")]
public bool ShowTimestamp
Field Value
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| bool |
