Enum PixelNoiseDistribution
Specifies the probability distribution used to draw random noise offsets during pixel noise generation. The distribution determines how likely each noise magnitude is, and therefore the overall visual texture of the noise applied to an image.
Namespace: Scylla.Core.Util.Noise
Assembly: ScyllaCore.dll
Syntax
public enum PixelNoiseDistribution
Remarks
This enum mirrors the "Distribution" option in Photoshop's "Add Noise" filter,
enabling similar results to that workflow. It is consumed by
Distribution and forwarded to the underlying
PixelNoise algorithm.
The choice of distribution does not affect performance in a meaningful way; both options use equivalent amounts of random-number generation per pixel channel.
Fields
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Gaussian | Gaussian (normal) distribution: noise offset values are drawn from a bell-curve centered at zero, so small offsets are far more common than large ones. This produces a softer, more naturalistic grain that closely resembles photographic film grain or analog sensor noise, with rare but plausible bright speckles. |
| Uniform | Flat (uniform) distribution: every noise offset value within the configured amplitude range has an equal probability of occurring. This produces a harsh, high-contrast speckle with equal probability of extreme bright and dark pixels, characteristic of raw sensor noise or coarse dithering. |
